Provided you have to bring along a USB hub and an external DVD-ROM with you for a more functional MacBook Air, it probably wouldn’t fit well into a manila envelope anymore. Quite convincing except the Lenovo X300 is of an ugly design.

It has been more than 10 days since my old phone was replaced by the Samsung i450. Here’s what I think about the phone after 10 days usage:

The Good:

  • The buttons are big and nice to press on. It will make you send meaningless messages just for the sake of typing with the keypad. Good for fat fingers.
  • Cool audio quality. The speaker is so loud that I decided it will be with me for bathing time. Now I bath with music on. It just get better and better with the earphone on. Music lovers will love the phone definitely.
  • When it says it is powered by S60, it means you can grab free softwares from the internet and make them yours by installing in the phone. So far I have Calcium, Dictionary, Opera Mini and Google Map. Tried installing Gmail Mobile but no avail, it returns 404 error when I tried to download it through the air.
  • Fun semi-circle music control wheel. Basically it is there just for the fun of it, I would just the buttons if I want something real quick and accurate. Still cool anyway
  • Voice Signal is definitely useful. If you are driving and wants to call someone, just pressing one key and start saying the command like “Call Vincent”. Not something new though.

Dell is probably jealous of all the attention that MacBook Air gets, and have launched something to compete it. Something meaning, erm, watch it yourself:

Some clever rings for geeks, meaningful yet not as pricey (hopefully) as diamond rings. They are good for being able to plug to each other.

Introducing iPoor, a more revolutionary phone than Apple iPhone. If you think iPhone’s design was elegant, you should be loving iPoor even more.

The iPoor has a huge big pink antenna, which I believe is not available in any other phones. It supports multi touch too like the iPhone. With 5 colorful buttons available, you can touch them as much as you like or even press multiple buttons at the same time.

An LCD monitor from Asus that can withstand hammering, nailing, and even a shot from a crossbow. Incredible, and it makes me wonder who will need an LCD monitor that strong. Military? (via)

security-mug.jpg

This is the so-called “security mug”, one of the listed weird household items at Funny Cool Stuff. By far this is the item I like the most of all the listed ones, simple idea yet useful. The hole there is to prevent anyone else but you to use the mug. When the real owner wants to use it, just simply plug the black thing in. Other people who don’t have the “shaped key” will have their fillings flow all the way out of the hole. -Link

robot goat

Instead of littering, unlucky gamblers of Tokyo’s Edogawa Kyotei boat race can have a little fun by feeding their losing tickets to a robotic goat. Besides reducing littering, the goatkeeper says, “It eats up your frustrations so that you will have better luck with the next race.” — so there’s a goatkeeper for a robotic goat? The 1.6-meter tall robotic goat munch around 500 tickets everyday, with the help of ticket-detecting sensors in its mouth. (pinktentacle via gizmodo)

Nothing
It is hard to decide when giving out something for someone’s birthday, or on occasions like anniversaries or Christmas – especially to those who seems to have everything. Such thing will probably not happen anymore with this little thing, namely “Nothing“.

That little clear ball is packed with A-grade, first-quality, five-star Nothing. Like the packaging says, the Gift of Nothing is for “the person who has everything”. Now, when you ask, “what would you like for your birthday/Christmas/[insert occasion here]?” and they say “Nothing” – you can finally give it to them!

Of course the figure above is not accurate, but you can still get the idea on how many germs there are on your keyboard taking the quiz. There was once a report claiming that a keyboard have way more germs than toilet seats.

There was also a computer cleaning week running earlier on this year encouraging computer users to spend some time cleaning up their workspace, especially the germful keyboard and mouse. Take the quiz and let’s see who have the most germs on their keyboard.
