Wikipedia Runs Out of Money

{ February 12, 2007 }

Wikipedia Wikipedia, a source used by millions of people either they are professionals like doctors or students from primary school is running out of fund and it may be closed down in 3 to 4 months. However, this will rarely happen as like what others said, the site itself already worth millions, or else billions.

Wikipedia currently doesn’t have any advertisement on its site, so there is actually no revenue at all – except for donations. But do you think users will rather to let go Wikipedia than having some ads on it to generate more fund to support their cost? Thilak does make sense when he says some big companies like Google will likely acquire Wikipedia if they really decides to shut it down.

So worry not, Wikipedia shall be still available in future. Even if no one want s to acquire Wikipedia, this odd news alone will generate enough attention to the world – and thus people will make donations to keep Wikipedia alive.

Damn. I don’t think they will close down. I mean, Wikipedia’s actually more important than YouTube is (and look how much YouTube’s worth!).
