Change your name for money

Scott MacDonald

Is it possible to change your name for a not reasonable reason in your country? I don’t just mean the name people use to call you (of course you can for just this), but also changing your name on your stuff like driving license, and other documents. I don’t think it’s possible to do it in Malaysia, at least it won’t be easy. Scott MacDonald (for now) is auctioning his name off at Choose My Name, and he will change his name to whatever the highest bidder wants by February 2nd, 2007 for a year.

Currently, the highest bidder is from CupOJoeOnline.com - offering $36,789.10 to change Scott’s name to “Finest Freshest Fastest“. That is quite a lot, and I might change mine too if I was Scott because everything should be back to normal (using back the old name) after a year. There’s some other weird names chosen by other bidders that worth a mention here:

  • Mr. MyFatRobot.com - $4,100
  • Mr. Clean - $5 (first bid)
  • Retired Movie Star Dave Leroux - $2,345.67
  • FreebeeStore.com - $4000
