Finally, Saddam Hussein is dead. He was executed in Baghdad just before 6am. I guess many people are happy with it, except for his family. I’m don’t know him or know what he did very well - so it doesn’t bother me at all.
Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was hanged early today for his crimes against humanity.
The toppled Iraqi leader was executed just before 6am at the Khadamiyah intelligence centre in Baghdad.
The centre was the place where many of his opponents had been executed in previous years.
Saddam, 69, put up no resistance as he was led to the gallows but was defiant to the end, refusing to wear a hood and shouting: “God is great.”
Witnesses to the execution said the former dictator showed “no remorse” before his hands and legs were bound and he was taken to the noose.
It’s the end of Saddam Hussein.
