OMG I'm getting Older i'm going to be really really old,… I can hear up to 17.7khz but is not clear

I can faintly hear 21.1 kHz and I am soon to be 32. To catch my attention as a ringtone I would have to use 19.9 kHz or lower. I haven’t looked at the wave form for any of the files but I think you’re right about the 22.4 kHz being bogus. My cat only responds to the 21.1 kHz file and lower.
Also I think the idea of age changing your hearing is kind of crazy. It’s not the years of living it’s what you do to yourself in those years. I keep the radio lower than most and I often cover my ears at concerts.

There’s no sound at 22.4 because i tested this with my dog. Dogs can hear frequencies much higher then humans. I tested every frequency and she seemed to be startled, turned around and barked except for 22.4 mhz.

Also, just as a follow up, I downloaded these tones and opened the 22.4kHz mp3 in Audacity (a sound editor). Visually I could see nothing (the sound graph was just a line). I attempted to both amplify and change the pitch of the mp3.

There’s actually no sound data at all in that file, so Bobby, you’re right. There isn’t actually any sound there at all. Whether this was done by design or accident I don’t know.

I’m nearly 31 and I can clearly hear the 21.1kHz tone but the 22.4 is silent for me.

I’ve always been able to hear annoying sounds that my friends and peers can’t, (even lower frequencies). Sometimes I get strange looks from them when I ask them seriously, “You can’t hear that?”

Only managed to hear at 21.1kHz.I maximized the sound at 22.4kHz still can’t spot any sound(Are you sure you there’s any sound recorded in 22.4kHz?).I still remember Science book form 2 has told us that our range of hearing sounds are between 20Hz to 20000Hz/20kHz.
