When you participate in any online community like chatrooms, game rooms, MMORPG etc, you might see some unknown short terms. If it is your first time, you might not be able to know what they mean. Sometimes, the term is not just used online, but also in real life. I have compiled a brief list of terms that is usually used. Most of them are just short forms, and some might be a little rude.

1. LOL = Laughing out loud / Lots of laugh
2. ROFL = Rolling on floor laughing
3. LMAO = Laughing my ass off
4. ROFLMAO = Rolling on floor laughing my ass off
5. 120 = Same meaning as LOL, usually used by hacker
6. Lawl = Same meaning as LOL
7. OMG = Oh my god
8. OMFG = Oh my fucking god
9. STFU = Shut the fuck up
10. WTF = What the fuck
11. FTW = For the win
12. Noob = Newbie / lousy
13. PWN/Pawn = Defeated (e.g. Jon got pwn’ed in game)
14. Woot = Similar to wow, cool, etc
15. P/S or P.S = Post Scriptum
16. IMO = In my opinion
17. IMHO = In my humble/honest opinion (Usually humble,however)
18. SERP = Search engine result page
19. Big “G” = Google
20. BRB = Be right back
21. BBL = Be back later
22. AFK = Away from keyboard
