12I have received my iPod shuffle yesterday (pictures soon), thanks Spluch a million for that. Should be my early Christmas gift, ^.^. After receiving it from the cool postman, I unwrap it, have fun playing it around – and what? No songs! I then search for free mp3 download on Google and found some legal and illegal one.
The legal one from Download.com, but it’s too limited. Almost all songs I want aren’t free for download. $0.99 for each song is going to cost me a fortune, and I know I won’t bother to spend my money on those stuff. I have tried the illegal way and successfully downloaded some of the songs I like. But I’m not happy to do that, those websites have too much advertisement and pop ups – which annoys me a lot.
I then remember that day when I helped Bobby to convert a video, and accidentally pick the wrong format. I converted a .flv to a .wav, and when I play it – there is only the background music without any video. I then thought of using this way to download free MP3.
I’m not sure if it’s legal to do this, so it’s up to you to do this or not. I’m just sharing the tips, hope the police won’t come over me for this :p. Alright, here’s how you do it:
- Go to the famous YouTube.com
- Search for the song you want
- Download it to your PC
- By using Zamzar or other method, convert the video from .flv to .mp3
- Voila, free mp3!!

Why are you writing this?
I know how it feels when you can’t afford something you really want, so I’m sharing this tips so that you can enjoy free mp3 while not being loaded by viruses. I don’t think videos from YouTube will have any viruses or stuff.

I still think the best source for mp3 is torrent or other forms of p2p like emule or limewire. Of course, this is one way to get mp3 illegally. Searching for direct downloads of commercial mp3 for free is hard, and usually those site provide fake links, and is full of ads.
If you’re a fan of getting files legally, why not buy original CD and start ripping it for the mp3? That way, it’s legal

About the quality, it’s still ok. Some are not so good,so do play the video first to test the audio quality. I tried Limewire, but the downloading speed is extremely slow.
I prefer legal files, but too bad, I aren’t that rich. Also, I heard it somewhere that although you have an original CD, it’s illegal to rip it to your iPod. Kinda stupid geh? <.< Not sure if it’s true though.

Using that method above is not a legal way to get mp3(because RIAA has stated that not to share to someone any files on youtube).I have surfed a website called mp3shits.com which they provide ’some’ of free hits songs. However,buy the albums are the best way to show legal way like Gemini Geek said,rip mp3 using ORIGINAL albums(If you said using pirated album,of course it’s illegal).Even if cops’ve caught you,the ORIGINAL albums are the proof of legal.
Sometimes,i wonder if you’ve bought the songs online and you accidently deleted it,can you claim for your loss?

Sounds good. If you’ve got a sound card, you can record any sound(s) from your computer. (But sound cards are costly!)

Freak yes! I posted the same thing, I like this method. I think youtube should just keep it’s mouth shut and let us have anything on there we want.
I guess it’s up to them that they should encrypt the dumb files if they don’t want us to download, right?
