I was stumbling just now and found a website that made a confusing maths statement. The maths statement he made is:
0.999… is the same as 1. Not just very close, but precisely identical:
a = 0.999…
10a = 9.999…
10a – a = 9.999… – 0.999…
9a = 9
a = 1There’s no trick here. It’s just a mathematical fact that most people find deeply counterintuitive.
But the real fact is, he did not let us know how many “9″ are there. The dots doesn’t make stuff clear. Everything will not be the same if there is no dots. I strongly disagree on the statement being made as it’s baseless to me. Let me know if you discover anything from the statement, in case I’m wrong.

It can actually be any number of nines after the zero..
9.99 – 0.99 = 9
9.9999 – 0.9999 = 9
=)
But since he use the dots, it can be any number. For example..
9.9999 – 9.999999. It’s not accurate and thus – conclusion can’t be made based on that statement. Just my 2 cents.
