12When do I start blogging - I started to blog few years back, but I’m serious at it at that time. I write one entry every decade, which makes me have no regular reader. However, I didn’t care about it, and not even tracking my visitors. At that time, I’m a total noob that know nothing, but just writing entries. As Blogger is the most popular free blog, I used it.
When I started to blog seriously - After years for not posting any entries in my old blog, I’m once again into blogging. This started when I saw someone’s blog hosted by WordPress.com - which is a blog on forum reviews (I was into InvisionFree at the time). I know nothing about WordPress at that time, and searched for it using search engine. I landed on WordPress.com, and started a new blog, by the url - http://exchannel.wordpress.com. I don’t quite like it, as it do not support javascript, which cause Adsense not able to be displayed on it.
I’ve heard a lot about Google Adsense, and knew that it is impossible to use it on blogs hosted by WordPress.com. Therefore, I look into the WordPress script that I can use on other host. Without knowing anything about host, I saw someone recommend Ahplace.com, the free hosting service provider.
I registered an account there and have my blog hosted, using the subdomain, vchannel.ahplace.com. After a while, I started to learn about domain names, but since I can’t buy stuff online, I can’t buy a domain name. Therefore, I search for free domain name - but there is none of them that I found.
I then decide to use .co.nr subdomain, which is a free url redirection. I browse through their forums and found that free domain names really do exist. It’s HostBidder, which is hosting my blog now. After two weeks joining the forum, I have enough points to buy a domain name.
The first domain name I have for free is VincentChow.net, which I am using now. I’m really happy, and forget about my WordPress.com blog. My blog was still hosted by Ahplace by the time - after a longer while, Ahplace seems to be very unreliable to me. Ahplace’s uptime is really terrible and I have no choice but to change my host.
HostBidder’s hosting is very reliable and fast, as it is provided by Servint. However, I hardly upgrade my hosting package, as the admin is extremely busy. I dare not to hardcore advertising my blog now, or my bandwidth my just blow off.
I gain some regular readers after a few months, it might be you, but I’m not sure. Really hope to know who do visit this blog regularly, mind letting me know if you are? I would like to thank two of my commenters here, which is Kumiko and LuUeE.
They both make me know that I’m not blogging alone. There are actually someone who visit my blog regularly, and give comments so the blog will looks more active. I’m sorry if I didn’t reply some of your comments - it’s either I’m busy or I have really nothing to write. For a few weeks, I thought of not blogging so much on humorz, but some on web development. I’m not sure if this will drive my visitors away, so I did not take the risk.
I’ve created a blog at blogger few days ago, to post something about web development - http://techover.blogspot.com. That’s just for fun, and might die anytime. Also, I have one more blog at http://www.twopic.com, which is also not so active.
