If you are wondering why P1 is the only Wimax licensee among the four rolling out wimax services, you are not alone. Here’s an interesting article on TheStar, the editor is having the same doubt:
SHOULD we fret over deadlines, targets and licensing conditions set by the authorities? Maybe not. Maybe there’s room for flexibility, interpretation and adaptation. Maybe the powers that be are obliging enough to loosen the rules to suit our respective situations.
If this is the case, the country’s four WiMAX operators need not worry at all that we are only three weeks away from year-end.
At times, the Malaysian government can be so tolerant. The MCMC had set deadlines for the four Wimax licensees to roll out their services as soon as possible. But by far it looks like only P1 is in business. The other three licensees are unheard of, and yet MCMC is letting them to keep their license. No action taken.
One can assume the Malaysian government is soft and tolerant or maybe inefficient, but no! They can set deadlines just for the sake of having a deadline, but they can also lock you up and accuse you for something you did not do, and they won’t allow trials. Geez..
Back to wimax, P1 had revamped its website, and it is now easier to check their coverage area. Just enter your street name and you will know if your location has any P1 wimax coverage almost immediately.
