Review: Gadget Advisor

{ October 16, 2008 }

Gadget Advisor is a technology blog focusing in gadgets (particularly cool ones like a universal remote), but at times will also write on computer hardwares, softwares and news on technology. The dark green blog gives me a very formal impression, with its serious looking logo.

Readability of articles can be improved by paragraphing better, the current “wall of text” concept hardly works in pursuing readers to complete reading the entire article. The Best Firefox Extensions post for example, the extension description is jumbled together and seriously, I wouldn’t want to squeeze my eyes reading them.

It’s also pretty pointless to have blank thumbnails for the excerpts on the homepage, I would recommend a real thumbnail relating to that particular post to be used (since all of the posts have an image of their own already) or just remove it all together.

Hiding the contact us link at the bottom of the blog is also a bad move. A contact page plays a very important role for a blog, be it contacting to provide a tip, asking for advertising options etc. The link should be moved to the top of the page, just right next to the Advertise link.

P/s: I suppose Gadget Advisor have multiple author, for some of the articles are paragraphed nicely, the backup online post for example, but most of the recent posts are not the same.
