To All Fellow Malaysians

This is a message to all Malaysians, posted to do my part as a Malaysian.

Dear Malaysians,

If you have followed the news recently, you should have know that our country is in a mess. Racist remarks, newspapers warned, people ISAed etc.

Three Malaysians were detained under Internal Security Act (ISA). If you have no idea what it is, an act that allows the Government to detain anyone without giving them a chance to defend themselves.

In short, an act that allows indefinite detention without trial. Used in the 1950s to counter the communist’s threat to the country, but remained even after the communist threat had gone and is still being used these days.

The first Malaysian detained on September 12 was Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK). He is the webmaster of a Malaysian news portal which revealed much negative elements of the Government. Perhaps he wrote something offensive or some baseless allegations.

By just for this, he is detained under ISA which seize his right to defend himself in court. The government judged that he should be detained while the judge have no chance to decide on the case yet.

Fine, perhaps the Government really dislikes his article.

The second Malaysian to be detained is a reporter. Tan Hoon Cheng, reported what she have heard in a speech by Ahmad Ismail, which include a racist remark. Ahmad did not want to apologize despite calls from several parties, when even the Deputy Prime Minister had apologized on his behalf.

After a while, Ahmad Ismail is suspended from UMNO for 3 years. Later on, surprisingly, Tan, the reporter, was detained under ISA, on the very same day RPK was detained.

Okay, if you think you have a right mind now, tell me what is this all about? In another words, John reported to the police that James broke into someone’s house. The police warn James not to do that again, then arrest John for reporting James. Justice? What justice?

Fortunately, the reporter was released just a day after it. Perhaps it is due to the calls from various parties including words of concern from the United States.

After releasing, the Malaysian Home Minister is trying to make Malaysians smile again by making a joke, a very stupid one though.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said Tan was detained under Section 73(1) of the Act in order to ensure her safety as police intelligence indicated that there were threats to her life after she reported on Bukit Bendera division Umno chairman Datuk Ahmad Ismail’s allegedly racist remarks

This is it my fellow Malaysians. We in Malaysia arrest people whose life is being threaten. We protect someone by arresting them. Cool!

Lastly, the third Malaysian who was detained is Teressa Kok, an opposition Member of Parliament. Again, on the same day RPK and Tan was detained.

Days ago, there was a report on a government controlled newspaper, Utusan, claiming that Teressa went to a mosque and instruct the mosque to lower the volume or do not use loudspeakers for prayers. The former Chief Minister of Selangor did his part in accusing Teressa too.

Teressa denied almost immediately, and demanded Utusan and the former Selangor CM (Khir Toyo) to apologize for making such baseless allegation.

The chairman of the mosque, Abdul Rahman Nasir, said Teressa did not go the to mosque nor instruct the mosque to lower its loudspeaker’s volume. He also said that some non-muslim even welcome the use of loudspeakers as they can wake early with it on despite the petition by the non-muslims half year ago, in which Teressa was not involved.

The statement by the mosque chairman is enough to prove Teressa is innocent and there is no issue at all.

Now what? Teressa is arrested under ISA. Please remember, ISA is there to ensure the nation’s security and anyone detained under it have no chance to defend himself or herself since there will be no trials, not at all.

In a nutshell, Teressa is detained without a chance to voice out because she is involved in an issue that is related to racial harmony, which in fact is NOT an issue at all.

What? You read it right, Teressa is detained for nothing, just because Utusan is cooking something up.

An example, James reports to the police that John stole Mary’s diamond. Mary tells the police that this is not true and the diamond is still with her. Then, the police arrest John.

This is it, the situation now in Malaysia under the ruling of Barisan Nasional’s geniuses.

Unhappy with it? Feel uneasy? Wanted to hold a protest? Please do not do so. At this point, everything seems to be plotted and if we bring it to the street, we are actually falling to the trap.

By protesting, someone might happily join in and cause another May 13. Then we might end up like Thailand in which state of emergency was declared. Then what? Anwar the Malaysian’s hope would not be able to proceed with his 916 plan to take over the government.

What you should do now? Abu Sayap suggested:

1. Remain calm

2. Do not do anything rash

3. Do not take to the street

4. Do not be instigated by people to demonstrate

5. Just voice it out in your blog, your comments to the blogs, and inform your friends and relatives about the situation

6. Call your Aduns or MPs and voice out your objection about these arrests and urge your representatives to voice out

7. Members of political parties, sms your leaders to pressure them to voice out

People, please stay calm. Do not join any riots or protest. Pass the message. Pray.

Hope for the best and we shall be able to overcome all this madness.

Now I’m praying the genius up there would not resort in detaining a 17 for writing all these.

To all Malaysian Indians, Malays, Chinese, Kadazan, Iban and other races, brothers and sisters, let’s be united. Hidup Rakyat.

Please post a comment if you too are unhappy with the ISA.
