The human brain is wired to see the familiar and patterns in things - human faces are one of the things we're most attuned to visually, so we see them even where they don't exist. It's like seeing a cloud that looks like a bunny - I doubt very much the cloud is the benevolent spirit of a dead bunny. It's just coincidence and the way we're wired to see things.
