The following is a press release of UPM’s dogathon, posted to lend a helping in publicizing the charity activity:

Dogathon™ 2008 : AEROSPACE – Astronaut, Asteroids, Astrodogs- …. Woof
Off!!

Come 10th of August 2008, the fields of Universiti Putra Malaysia or to be
precise Bukit Ekspo in UPM Serdang will resemble an unknown planet from outer
space decorated with aliens, rockets, extra-terrestrial and space ships.

On this particular day, dog owners and dog lovers will let their hair down to
have a fun-filled yearly dog carnival with their four-legged furry friends.
Aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership & as a charity event where funds
generated are channeled to Pro-Kasih, a catch-neuter-release project which helps
control the population of strays in the campus.

Dogathon™ is a much awaited dog event organized voluntarily by the students
in Malaysia’s first & only veterinary school and sponsored by platinum sponsor
Blackwood, the leading super premium pet food company and gold sponsor Rhone Ma.

Dogathon™ derive its name from the play of words of Dog & Marathon, where
like its name sake, Dogathon™ race is the race where dogs are pitted against
each other to run over a 2.5 km course through the hills of UPM. Another
highlight of the day would be Master Hunt where the owners and dogs are both
placed on opposite ends of a maze, dogs that successfully passes through all the
obstacles in the maze and find the owner in the shortest amount of time wins.
Dogathon™ Idol makes a comeback to search for THE dog and while the highly
popular Fastest-Eating Duo is another event to look out for.

Other interesting games include Alien says, our space version of the game Simon
says, RESC-UFO, an object retrieving game, space spinning wheels, Dog & Owner
Look alike, Sixth Sense, Capture the aliens, Galaxy Theme park games & MORE!!
All this games will surely keep everyone occupied and a guaranteed awesome
dogs-day out for all.

The organizing committee hopes to take Dogathon™ to greater heights this year
with the theme AEROSPACE and the Dogathon™ 2008 director, Yew Ee Ling has this
to say:

“Dogathon’s an event where dog owners and animal enthusiasts alike will call as
a day of fun, excitement and charity. We hope that the community will be able to
support us, by coming each year, not just to participate in any exciting doggy
event, but to participate in one, with the heart and soul for animal welfare,
the Dogathon. We promise great fun for a noble cause!”

Thus, head towards Serdang to Universiti Putra Malaysia on the 10th of August
2008 from 7 am till 2 pm for a spaceship load of fun for you & your furry
friends!!
