To boost Malaysia’s broadband penetration, four Malaysian telco has been licensed last year by the Malaysia government to roll out WiMAX services in the nation, namely Bizsurf, Packet One Networks, Asiaspace Dotcom and Redtone-CNX Broadband. After much waiting and delays, WiMAX are expected to be roll out real soon, as being reported to be in the third quarter of 2008.

This seems like a better option than the expensive wireless broadband with crappy quality. Now this is probably a bad news to coffee shops or restaurants that offer free Wifi service. My last visit to Starbucks is for their Wifi, if everyone will be subscribing for WiMAX, there will be virtually unlimited hotspots and I guess Starbucks and the like will have to work very hard on their coffees instead.
I see this as a good news for computer vendors too. Everyone will have all the reason to get themselves a laptop. Ultra portables like Asus’s Eee Pc will probably see a nice boost in their sales too. At least I’m already considering getting one of those in a year or two.

You already owned a laptop right? Why are you considering to own those in one or two years? You are using it right? Or you mean better one?
Eee PC is very portable, making it easy to bring around, unlike my 17″ now.
