Visual comparisons between western and asian culture. It’s a little of generalizing, so you might disagree to some of them. Both have its own good and bad, like the western queues better than the asian, or the asian is more humble etc. Blue for western culture and red for asian culture.

Perception of Each Other’s Culture

hmm? i dont quite understand wor..
I understand for the most but the first I don’t quite understand. Is it mean by Western like to be straight to the point compare to Asian like for the opinion? I don’t think so. Sometimes I feel that, not just sometimes, most of the time the western like to praise someone
eg: “You’re good enough, but without that one is better(imagine things) but I think you did a great job. Well done.”
Do you think they straight to the point? They not frank enough and like to praise people although it’s not that good. LOL!
HAHAHA! This is good!
I so agree about the contacts, queues, life of an elderly, the boss and perception of each other’s culture.
Yes, this is so true. All Asian Cultures are very indiect. Also they never show their displeasure easily. Something that should change…
that’s becoz asians believe that loosing their cool is IMMATURE, which is a charecteristic they really look down on, where as the westerners don’t see it that way
Afftor zhzhot!
This is great! Where can I get a higher resolution of these graphics? Did you make them?
You definitely have good points there!! ^_^
kinda funny, but it’s the truth
It is good and personally I also find it very funny. But I think it is just a perception
Let me put it in this way: Western culture is based on “individual” and as shown above, an “individual” is not very successful in close groups. Well, it handles such relationships in a different way. For example, with putting a distance in between or with being direct; which are “practical” in its context. As a result, it will never allow a (more) closer relation. So if you look from this point of view – or put the red boxes on the right and the blue ones on the left – then it will be funny from the “east” point of view. No?
stupid stereotyping by a stuck up western man
actually, it was made by a chinese artist.
I agree with most of them but have no ideas about the restaurants and moods. I have been working with many foreigners and learnt that they also look like Asians. They try to go around the bush, not straight to the point. I think this is the general comparison. Although i am asian and living in an Asian country, i like the way of thinking and solving problems of the Westerns.
this is a attempt of spoiling the greatness of asian cultures. coming future we ll rule the world.
This is wonderful! I would like to use these illustrations as a power point presentation. Do you have them in such a format or may i use these off the site? I am Asian, by the way, and identified with the messages.
Thank you!
Hello Janis, sorry but I'm not the owner of these illustrations and have no idea who is the original creator.
This is a good stereotyping, however due to the globalization process the stereotypes change. As to me, it is partially true. I am nither Asian nor European, or partially Asian and partially European, though the country where I live is more Asian geografically. Thank you so much!
For me it seems like you're saying that Asians are inferior to Whites. Not that funny, and I agree with xainx, it's a stupid stereotype by a stuck up white man.
Tigerick
The original authors name I do not know but I know that SHE is CHINESE and a PhD at a university. I don't think it puts either sided up or down it just is. However after 30+years in Asia I can see the transitions that I have made.
LOL this is hilariously true!!!
I think there is a lot of stereotype here (I can't vouch for the western but for the asian). While some are true, others are not. For example, for us boss is not god. One may fear him just because he may fire you. There are many other stereotypes which I don't agree with. However it is hilarious to see the stereotype.
And in fact, the country which is most famous for social lying is England which is the west and not the east.
i agree with most, the definition of beauty is just soo true. i am Asian who grew up in the west.
Apparently this is drawn by a Chinese artist but whoever they are are assuming that what happens in China is happening all over Asia which is not true. These may be true for China but not for the countries I know.
I can't vouch for all Asian countries because I haven't been to all but as for Japan and Korea, I would say that the "Punctuality", "Queues" and "Restaurants" drawings are completely the opposite.
