The American and the Japanese ways are most efficient, most accurate, and work with non-crisp bills (unlike the perfectly crisp bills in this video). I, myself, count cash in a variation of the American way. I shuffle the cash from the left to the right, but I keep holding it in my left hand and shuffling with my right. There's no need to displace the bills a great distance. You can just angle the stack to the left and count while you angle each bill to the right. That's the most efficient way I know to count cash.
