Today is the Blog Action Day. Every blogger who have participated in this will be blogging on a single topic today, the environment. Most of us have probably heard a lot about the environment. Everyone knows that the Earth is getting warmer. Everyone knows that this will result in raising sea levels. Everyone knows that this is bad and something should be done. But, not everyone is doing their part. There are two reasons behind this. The first one is they don’t give a damn about it. They might have already passed away when things happen. And the second reason is they don’t know what to do in order to help.
Do you want this?
Or this? (Yes, I drew both of them myself using MS Paint)
Or for a more realistic one, if you can still remember, this.
I must tell that it is EASY to do your part in saving the environment. Minor things like switching off your computer whenever not in use, when done by everyone, will dramatically reduce the energy usage.
You can help by reducing the use of:
- Energy
- Paper
- Water
- Plastic bags
There are more, but it is already good enough if you can reduce the use of just the mentioned things.
Saving energy:
- Switch off the lights whenever not in use
- Switch off the monitor when computer is not in use for a short while
- Shut down your computer whenever it is not in use for a long while
- Turn the switch off after you have off your electrical appliances, a computer or television for example
- Basically, turn off whatever that is on when they are not in use. For example, the fan and lights, turn them off when you are leaving your room
Saving water:
- Close the tap when you are brushing your teeth. Use a mug or cup instead of letting the water flow freely
- Take your bath at your fastest speed, without enjoying inside the bath room letting the water flow
- Wash your car only when it is dirty and not on a daily basis.
Saving papers:
- Print only when extremely important
- Only write or draw when necessary
- Share books, newspapers and magazines instead of getting a new copy
- Reuse and recycle papers
Whatever I have suggested is pretty basic. My last advice is be very sensitive and think. Whenever you see a running fan at a place without anyone, switch it off. When purchasing, refuse the use of plastic bags or use as few as possible. When seeing a tap leaking, close it tight.
When you see things that you know is doing nothing good to the environment, try to alter it so that it will not harm the environment. It won’t do much if only a few are practicing the above mentioned, but imagine every single person is doing the same. Things will change forever.
Besides saving resources, you can also help reduce pollution to save the environment. At my place, I see people throwing rubbish everywhere very often. Drivers just throw rubbish out of their car while driving, so that their car will be clean and it isn’t their business if the road is dirty. People eating will just dump their wrappers on the floor, as long as they don’t have to take that shit until they see a rubbish bin. Seriously, I look down on people like this. Uneducated eh? Please, if you are one of them, change. Don’t let a teenager to look down on you.
If you have not participate in the Blog Action Day yet, you can still do so now. It isn’t too late!
