I watched the episode that she was on. That one is real. She is wearing a wig though, they gave her surgery to grow her hair back, but it wouldn’t come back before the end of the episide, so they wigged her up. She looks wonderful though.

You know most people in africa still don’t understand why people go thru the extreme makeover. Infact i recently was discussing with a friend og mine who was from the united states and was on safari that these things are unnecessary.
According to him he was of the opinion that africans were missing out on this. South Africa which is sometme not considered to be on the same footing with other African countries on the other hand is way ahead of the rest of africa.
but when i look here i’m shocked. I mean who wouldn’t want to look better.
I think i’ve seen some of these makeovers on tv. It’s amazing. There’s no such thing as ugly women, only women that doesn’t have enough money to take care of themselves

Most were held back by something significant, and all need a push. Money, obligations, and low self-esteem are relevant obstacles that pushed them back when they tried pursuing this goal themselves…or they didn’t think the dream was worth pursuing.
Disgusts me that you think this way. Haven’t you looked deeper into issues and asked yourself “why”?
i totally agree with bobby…i am one of those he is talking about i spend everything on my son and do nothing for me….and then you get that low self-esteem and then you have no hope for anything and hard to fight that off to make the person who you really are…..it is inside that counts and people dont look pass the outside to see the wonderful person in the inside……wow some people and they wonder why there is people that let themselfs look this way….they are all very pretty people.

i am upset that this show is not running anymore. i was hoping for a chance to get a makeover for myself as i feel i cannot live the way i am. i am a big girl only 22 yrs of age and i dont think highly of myself. i suffer from pseudo seizures and dysthymia – a long term depression and im getting worse from how i feel about myself. i wish so much to look and feel good about myself and not feel like im being watched as i walk down the street. i hate feeling like i have to hide myself away from everyone and this was my dream to be on this show and get myself fixed up and feeling better. i dont understand how my boyfriend can stand looking at me or even touching my arms. i hate the feeling! please consider putting this show back on the air i really need help here and i dont know how much longer it will be that i can stand living like this. please think about it. Im 34 have young children and cannot afford surgery. I have no self confidence as ive always felt ugly. I have hooded eyelids a broken nose and thin lips . I dont even leave the house some days as I cant bear people looking and laughing at me. It causes alot of depression and its sad for my children to always see me upset. i've read the other comments people have left and they just want to talk about how they want to have a make over, but seriously guys it's cool to get a new haircut, dye your hair, try new make-up or maybe, if you must, get a nose job. but these people have had so much work done they don't even look like themselves. i think it's sad that people can't just be comforatable with who they are. you don't really have self confidence when you're only confident because you look like someone else.

I am a 40 year old happily married mother of 3 and grandmother to one 3 year old. I realize that as we grow older that gravity is not very friendly to a woman's body nor is time, but as I get older, my self-esteem is dropping as low as my body parts. I have seriuosly considered plastic surgery to correct things that I feel make me feel worse about myself even though my family, friends even random people I don't even know say I should be proud of. I have tried really hard not to let certain things about my physical apprearance bring me down emotionally, but it has come to the point where I hate even taking a shower or looking at myself in the mirror to get ready to go anywhere. I wish so bad we had the money to get a makeover that would make me feel better about myself, but I have always been one that wanted to make sure my family had what they needed or wanted first and in doing so, there never seems to be any money left over for me to put aside to do it.
My husband, family, and friends are more than happy with the way I look, but I am not. I do not want a makeover for anyone else but me. They are happy with the way I look. It's me that has a problem. As bad as I would like to have the money to fix the things about me that bother me, I can't and won't take away from the money that could go to buy things that my family needs and wants, so I am left with no other choice, but to keep feeling like this. I hope anyone feeling the same way I do about myself has a more choices. Good luck to you all.

Hey Shirle. I'm not from the show and I can't really do anything to help other than give you some advice, but i'll try… you are beautiful no matter what anyone else says to you. Have you ever seen the show What Not To Wear? If not take a few hours to watch some of the episodes and you'll see how they transform people without any surgery, because they play with each individual's natural beauty. If you really want to change your appearance then it all comes down to clothing and what fits properly, your haircut, and makeup techniques applied to embrace your features and give them a boost. Always remember that you're beautiful and that you have the power to change your looks and feel comfortable in your own skin.

would love this show to come to australia!!! I want to apply my mum in this show shes 35. She is very selfconscious about her looks. She has only a few teeth on the bottom and has a little gap on the top. She hates smiling in public. She had to get her bottom teeth (exept a few) pulled out, and is still waiting for false teeth, and shes been waiting for a year now. She is flat chested, she just wants to fill out her clothes, and have the breast she had when she was younger. She's worried about getting old and her face is sagging down abit. She has come alonge way, and has given so much. I just want her to feel beautiful again and have the confidence. I think she thinks that my dad doesn't find her attractive anymore, due to no breast's and teeth. My mum does not have the kind of money to get any of these procedures done. Love has alot to do with looks actually. It's not being shallow, it's being real. Before anyone will engage another person in conversation with the hope of a possible relationship, there has to be SOME SORT of physical attraction. On another perspective, people feel the way they look. If they think they are ugly, then they will feel ugly. That will put strain on a relationship quickly because it affects not only the social/going out part of the relationship, but also the sexual part of it. In order to feel sexy, you have to believe that you LOOK the part. If having these surgeries made these women feel better about themselves, and caused them to do things to fix their relationships and self esteem in a way they normally wouldn't, then more power to them. It was money and time well spent. Don't judge people. Everybody has their own way of mending loose ends in their life
