How To Make Sponsored Post Less Annoying

{ April 7, 2007 }

AnnoyedBefore I started posting sponsored post, I will be annoyed when I saw sponsored post on other blogs, especially when I’m reading using feed reader. And now, even me myself is writing sponsored post, and I feel there’s nothing wrong with them now.

To know how to make a sponsored post less annoying, according to the scientific method, you have to first identify the problem. According to my experience, a sponsored post will be annoying when it’s posted alone. When I check for new posts from a blog, but it only shows a new sponsored post and nothing else, I will be annoyed. Especially when I’m reading via feed reader, when it says there’s a new post, I will expect something good to read, but when it turns out to be a sponsored post – I’m annoyed.

Whenever there’s a problem, there’s a solution. It only matters if you bother to look for it. To make your sponsored post less annoying, I recommend not to publish a sponsored post alone – but publish it along with one or a few non-sponsored post. For example, you took an opportunity from PayPerPost, get a few non-sponsored post ready to be published before posting the sponsored one. After you’ve finish writing the sponsored post, publish it, and publish the other non-sponsored post you’ve written before this.

By doing so, your readers will first read your non-sponsored post, later when they’ve finished, they will be satisfied. They will then proceed to other post and finally see your sponsored post. As they’ve already read something they wanted too before this, the sponsored post doesn’t really matters them. Same goes to the feed reader. It will be annoying to expect a new post, but it appears to be a sponsored one. If you have a few other new post, they will at least have something else to read.

This only applies to those who can’t write sponsored post interestingly. If you feel that your visitors enjoy reading both non-sponsored and sponsored post, you have to do nothing. Basically, all you have to do is to post a few non-sponsored entries after the sponsored one right after the sponsored post is published. There’s still other factors that may make a sponsored post to be annoying, think of it and come out with your own solution, share it with us here if you don’t mind.

This should be the first blogging tips eve posted here, I’m practicing to write better. :D

I hv been doing the same thing as i’m annoyed myself :)

thanks for the tips. your post encourages me to write better post.

As much as I’d love to agree with you, I think the problem doesn’t lie in whether you sandwich your paid posts between non-paid posts.

It lies in the fact that readers generally DON’T read paid posts because they know the fact that you’re paid to write it, and it doesn’t really matter to them whether your opinion is an honest one.

And the only way out, unsurprisingly, is to creatively sponge your paid posts with personal experience, and write beyond the “50 word” limit. Because if you write exactly 50 words, no matter how interesting it is, your readers will assume that it was written harshly, just in time for you to grab that 5-bucks opp.

Well, maybe I’ve written long enough to actually write a blog post about this, hahaha =)

That’s why most ReviewMe post is better than PPP’s. Every single ReviewMe post have the same rules, minimum 200 words and neutral tone. This is just like telling the readers that this is really my opinion, as the advertiser can’t do anything to lead me to write the review in his way – and it wouldn’t be short either.

I received my second review order just days ago, and although I can actually earn the same amount of money using PPP, it’s written better because I feel that the advertiser expect good post from me as he himself find me instead of me finding the advertiser. (at least more images and screenshots although I can’t write well)

This is great advice. By making 2 posts, readers don’t feel slighted on a day by only getting a paid post.

Exactly what I’m trying to say :)
